Bailey joins the Healthy States National Task Force

AUGUSTA - Rep. Kyle Bailey, D-Gorham, was invited to join the Healthy States National Task Force, a new two-year working group launched by the Council of State Governments (CSG). The task force, composed of 60 state leaders from across the country, will develop public policy resources and solutions to address challenges in the areas of fiscal health, human health, economic and workforce health and civic health.

Over the biennium, the task force will oversee research and analysis on selected policy areas, identifying bipartisan policy solutions, developing case studies and providing an outline of recommendations for state officials. These recommendations will be geared toward rebuilding state budgets and economies that have suffered as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I am excited to collaborate with elected officials from across the U.S. to share best practices and develop smart, strategic and innovative solutions to create opportunity and prosperity for Americans to thrive in the years following the COVID-19 pandemic," said Bailey.

In the wake of the pandemic, as states continue to work to identify and implement policies that will improve outcomes, the task force will work together to analyze best practices and release detailed recommendations for state governments.

Founded in 1993, the Council of State Governments is the nation's only organization serving all three branches of state government. CSG is a region-based forum that fosters the exchange of insights and ideas to help state officials shape public policy.

Bailey is serving his first term in the Maine House and represents part of Gorham and part of Scarborough. He is a member of the Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement and Business Committee.
