Rep. Michel (Mike) A. Lajoie is serving his sixth non-consecutive term in the Maine House of Representatives. 

A lifelong resident of Lewiston, Lajoie is a former small business owner and Lewiston Fire Chief who served the city for over 31 years. He graduated from Lewiston High School and Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute and earned his associate’s degree in fire science from Southern Maine Technical College. He is also a graduate of the Androscoggin Leadership Development Institute.

Previously, Lajoie served on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee and was a member of the Maine Fire Protection Services Commission and the Maine Fire Service Institute Advisory Board. Additionally, he served two terms as a Lewiston City Councilor and was the council president for the second term.

Outside of the Legislature, Lajoie serves on the Gendron Franco Center Board of Directors and is an American Red Cross Community Volunteer Leader. He and his wife Rita have three children, five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
