Michelle Lenihan serves as the Deputy Commissioner for the Department of Defense, Veterans, and Emergency Management, where she plays a crucial role in supporting the Commissioner with a broad range of responsibilities. In this capacity, she assists with managing the agency's budget, conducting personnel evaluations, and overseeing the operations of all bureaus within the department. She collaborates with other agencies on joint projects, ensuring effective cross-agency cooperation.

Deputy Commissioner Lenihan is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of department policies and procedures, managing legislative matters, and actively participating in the rulemaking process. She also serves as a key point of contact for the Governor's office, addressing constituent concerns and ensuring effective communication.
