The Maine State Data Center (SDC) is a partnership between the State of Maine and the U.S. Census Bureau with the goal of making Census data available and accessible to Maine people and organizations.
Led by the Office of the State Economist, we are a network of state agencies, planning organizations, universities, and public libraries that serve diverse constituencies and geographies in Maine. We facilitate training on Census tools, provide resources for data users, and track demographic and economic trends in in the state. We collaborate directly with Census staff to inform Census programs and to assist the public with their data needs.
Nationally, the State Data Center program began in 1978 and it operates in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Island Areas.
