Booster Doses

Everyone 5 and older is now recommended to receive a COVID-19 booster shot, regardless of underlying medical conditions, given the following criteria:

  • You completed the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series at least five months ago, OR
  • You have received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago.

A second booster of an mRNA vaccine is available to those 50 and older, and those 12 and older with certain immunocompromising conditions, if it has been at least four months since your first booster dose. Individuals 12 and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised should receive additional vaccine doses as part of the primary series and boosters, and should consult their physician about their eligibility for pre-exposure treatment to prevent COVID-19 infection, hospitalization, and death.

For more information, see this FAQ. To find a booster dose, find a vaccination site.
