Coastal Program
- Highlights of projects of the Maine Coastal Program which annually distributes over two million dollars in federal funds—matched by state and local resources— to remediate coastal pollution, improve regulatory oversight, promote smarter municipal planning, foster the economic health of coastal towns, involve citizens in caring for the coast, and address other high-priority issues. Maine Coastal Program Section 312 Evaluation Findings
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration finds that the Maine Coastal Program adheres to its programmatic obligations under Section 312 of the Coastal Zone Management Act. (May 2010)

Floodplain Management
This plan is a requirement for the state of Maine under FEMA’s community assistance program grant. It is intended to show the relationship of Maine’s community assistance activities and resource allocation to achieving the flood loss prevention goals of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and to identify gaps that may prevent effective flood management in Maine (May 2010)
- The purpose of this manual is to give the reader a better understanding of floods and flooding and what an individual or community can do reduce the impact of flooding on both the property owner and the community as a whole.
Land for Maine's Future
- Report to the to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over matters pertaining to state parks and public lands on expenditures from the Land for Maine's Future and the Public Access to Maine Waters funds and revisions to the program's strategies and guidelines. Land Use Planning

- This manual is written for citizen planners: the members of a comprehensive planning committee, boards of selectmen, or planning boards charged with preparing a comprehensive plan. It is part “how-to,” part suggestions for policy, and part tool box.

Waste Management & Recycling
- The State Planning Office is required by 38 M.R.S.A. 2124-A to report to the Legislature on statewide generation of solid waste, statewide recycling rates, and available statewide disposal capacity. The purpose is to review and analyze how communities and businesses in Maine manage their solid waste, to identify potential future management issues, and to measure Maine's recycling progress (January 2011) (PDF 627KB)
- The Waste Management and Recycling Plan serves as an important source of information and policy guidance for solid waste issues in Maine. The development of this document is part of an ongoing planning process for managing Maine's solid waste; an updated plan is to be submitted to the legislature every five years. (2009) (PDF 366KB)
