Conditional Community Paramedicine License

TO PERFORM CP IN MAINE, YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT MAINE CP LICENSE

PREVIOUS PRACTICE IS NOT RELEVANT WITHOUT A CP LICENSE!

If you have an expired CP license

YOU CANNOT PERFORM COMMUNITY PARAMEDICINE SERVICES!

The State of Maine requires a state license in order to perform CP services in Maine.  Affiliation with a licensed Maine CP agency IS required, however residency in Maine is NOT required.  This license is separate from, and an addition to, any other EMS license (EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic) you may have.  The State of Maine does not issue physical CP license cards. You can download and print a copy of your license by logging into your eLicensing account. Maine EMS licenses expire at midnight on the last day of the month listed.

Conditional licenses are only for those who practiced CP prior to July 1, 2024.

To obtain a new Maine Conditional Community Paramedicine license:

  • Log in to your Maine eLicensing account and complete a Conditional CP License New Application
  • Submit the application. Within the application, follow the instructions to provide evidence of:

    • 10 CP visits prior to July 1, 2024,
    • Initial CP education, and
    • 8 CP specific CEHs. 
  • Once all materials have been received, processing may take up to 10 BUSINESS days. 

  • Your expiration date of your Conditional Community Paramedicine license will align with your EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic license expiration date.  

  • To utilize the new CP scope of practice you must obtain a CP-A, CP-T, or CP license.  To apply, visit the New Community Paramedicine license page.

  • A conditional license only allows you to practice within your base scope of practice at the EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic level. 

  • To provide Community Paramedicine Services, you MUST

    • Maintain your base Maine EMS license (EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic) AND

    • Maintain your Maine CP license AND

    • Be affiliated with a Maine licensed or designated CP agency
