Commissioner's Recognition Awards Program

Each year, a ceremony is held for the purpose of honoring 5 people who have made a significant contribution in meeting the needs of at risk students.

Potential awardees are recommended to the Commissioner of Education by the Advisory Committee whose membership reflects the broad range of public and private institutions which are involved in the challenge of meeting the needs of at risk youth
The awardees have made an impact on many young people whose lives might have turned out quite differently if not for the caring and intervention of these individuals. They have worked to create caring, respectful and safe learning environments for students
We are recognizing individuals who themselves have recognized that the students they deal with are unique individuals who need learning options tailored to different learning styles and abilities.

The 2005 Commissioner's Recogntion Awards Program will be held on May 18th from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the Blaine House.
