Student Members ~Honor Wilkinson (Calais High School) and Andrea Levinsky (Deering High School)Student Members The State Board of Education voted in the spring of 2007 to begin the process that would place two non-voting students on the Board - one junior and one senior. Each year after the year of implementation for student participation, a high school junior will join the Board for a two-year term. Excepting the vote, student members have full privileges and responsibilities of membership. In addition, the State Board of Education applied for and was awarded a grant which called for engagement of students in identifying candidates and in designing the criteria that is used to determine who will participate. Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN) assisted with that process. The State Board held a Youth Forum on August 14, 2007, at Bates College to meet with prospective students and begin the process of designing the necessary criteria.
