Description of Program – written by UCLA School Management Program UCLA School Management Program’s SES program, Partners for Student Success (PASS), guides students to increase academic performance and become independent learners. PASS works with school and school districts to make sure school teaching and tutoring are consistent – our tutors know what math program, writing program or reading program your daughter or son is already using at school. PASS also works with students to prepare them for future academic success by teaching independent and inquiry based learning skills, so that the tutoring is a springboard to help your child move forward. Through one on one instruction or small group learning – whichever is best for your child – students get the extra help they need to become confident learners. We use classroom grades, statewide tests and other assessments tools to identify each student’s needs and create a plan, in partnership with teachers, after school providers and parents, to help each child achieve success. Our consistent approach based on inquiry means that we require tutors to constantly work with classroom teachers to understand the standards being addressed, as well as how your child is doing during the school day. The best part of PASS is that we mean it – we want to be Partners in each student’s success. We strive to create meaningful connections and partnerships with parents and families through notes, meetings, and phone calls; with school and after school staff through meetings, notes, data sharing, and emails and with the student by creating a plan that meets their goals, too. We’ll use all this information to evaluate our own performance, too, to make sure we are meeting the needs of your child.
