Program Description – written by Educational Tutorial Services

E.T.S. utilizes Pearson and Scholastic curriculums, including Scholastic’s Fluency Formula Kits, reading Inventory, and Success with Math Workbook. We use the Pearson Assessment Series. The Pearson PASeries is built from the ground up to be scientifically valid, reliable research-based formative assessment.

Our program is based on individualized tutoring on a one-to-one basis or in small group settings. We provide supplemental educational services in student’s homes or in local libraries.

E.T.S. incorporates the following instructional strategies in our supplemental educational services program: modeling and explaining, independent reading and writing, guided reading, and coaching. All of our instructional strategies are based upon scientifically-based research of the publisher of the curriculum. Gathering information is key to delivering any strategy. E.T.S. assesses what type of learner the student is to determine the appropriate instructional strategies and techniques to use. We assess whether the student is a tangible learner, has any learning disabilities, and any IEPs we must follow. We rely upon the school teacher’s experience with the student. And, we incorporate motivational strategies, including coaching, in our practices.
