March 2008 Administration Information for the MEA Grades 3-8

NOTE: Due to the number of weather-related school cancellations this winter, we are extending the MEA testing window one week. The new testing window will be the four weeks from March 3 to 28, 2008. Instructions regarding the return of testing materials on either March 26th or March 31st have been included in the MEA materials shipment due to arrive in your schools early this week. Refer to Informational Letter #86 for more information.

The MEAs will measure 2007 Grade Level Expectations in reading and math for grades 3-8 and Grade Span Expectations in Science and Technology at grades 4 and 8. Field test items measuring Chapter 131: The Maine Federal, State, and Local Accountability Standards will also be included but not be scored for reporting purposes. An additional field test writing prompt at grade 8 will measure Chapter 132: Learning Results: Parameters for Essential Instruction.

MEA Test Administration Survey – NEW!!!

School personnel who administered the 07-08 MEA to students are invited to complete this survey at the end of testing. It contains three sections: one section contains test administration questions intended for anyone who administered the test, one section contains curriculum and instruction questions intended for teachers of grades 3-5, and the last section contains curriculum and instruction questions intended for teachers of 6-8. The results will be used to inform future MEA administration, so please take a few moments to share your thoughts.
