Maine Educational Assessment (MEA)

The 2009 Maine Educational Assessment (MEA) will be held during the testing window of March 2-20, 2009 and will measure reading and mathematics at grades 3-8, and science at grades 5 and 8.

Reading, mathematics and science items will measure the new 2007 Maine Learning Results contained in the Maine Department of Education (MDOE) Regulation 131: The Maine Federal, State, and Local Accountability Standards. These standards and performance indicators are also contained and highlighted in MDOE Regulation 132 – Learning Results: Parameters for Essential Instruction.

MDOE Regulation 131: The Maine Federal, State, and Local Accountability Standards can be found at: http://www.maine.gov/sos/cec/rules/05/071/071c131.doc.

MDOE Regulation 132 – Learning Results: Parameters for Essential Instruction can be found at: http://www.maine.gov/education/standards.htm.

NOTE: Grade Level Expectations, created to measure the 1997 Maine Learning Results at individual grade levels, and Grade Span Expectations in Science and Technology are no longer in effect.
