Kids as Planners guide

KIDS As Planners is a comprehensive guidebook that provides teachers, school administrators, students and community partners with a step-by-step process for designing, implementing and evaluating a quality KIDS service-learning project. It demonstrates how service-learning can effectively meet many educational reform objectives: standards-based learning, character education and school-to-career initiatives.

Full of reproducible examples, tools and strategies, KIDS As Planners is an important resource to help schools advance educational goals while deepening the relationship between students and their communities.

This revised edition provides a wealth of new resource information, alongside the tools and guidance that made the first edition so popular with teachers, service-learning coordinators and community leaders.

It is available on loan from the Curriculum Resource Center of Maine.

RMC Research, a partner in the Learning In Deed Initiative sponsored by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, is pleased to announce the web-based availability of the Compendium of Assessment and Research Tools (CART).

The Compendium of Assessment and Research Tools (CART) is a database that provides information on instruments that measure attributes associated with youth development programs. CART includes descriptions of research instruments, tools, rubrics, and guides and is intended to assist those who have an interest in studying the effectiveness of service- learning, safe and drug-free schools and communities, and other school-based youth development activities.
