About the files linked to this page

Saving Files:
To save any file on your own computer, you may right-click on the link. In most browsers the right-click menu will give you the option of saving the file to your computer's hard drive. (In Internet Explorer, you will be prompted to "save target as ...") In the dialog box that pops up, you can choose the place where you want to save the file. You should make a note of which folder or directory you put it in. That way you won't have to do a search to find it later.  Back to List

Text Files:
Sample letters to parents are provided in three formats.  These are PDF, Microsoft Word, and plain text.  PDF files can be viewed and printed but not edited, and since all users may not have Microsoft Word software installed on their computers, text versions of the sample letters are available here.  Do not simply click on the link for text files as this will cause the letter to be opened in your browser.  Instead, you should save the file to your own computer's hard drive. (See paragraph above.)  After you have saved it locally, the text file can be opened and edited in your default text editor (On computers with Windows operating systems, this is usually Notepad.  On Apple computers, this is usually Appleworks.)  Please make sure that "Word Wrap" is turned on in your text editor or you will have to scroll horizontally to see all the words.  Although plain text is not formatted,  it will be possible to copy the text of the letter, and then paste it into whatever word processing program you usually use.
