TO:                 Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Adult Education Program Directors, and Dropout Prevention Committee Chairpersons

SUBJECT:     Commissioner’s Recognition Awards Program

 

I am pleased to announce the 2007 Commissioner’s Recognition Awards Program for individuals who have made a significant contribution in meeting the needs of children and youth at risk.

You are entitled to submit one nomination from each school administrative unit under your supervision.  Your Dropout Prevention Committee must endorse each unit’s nomination.  I urge you to encourage each Dropout Prevention Committee to nominate individuals not only from education but also from the other categories listed on the enclosed nomination form.

Boards of non-profit institutions may nominate individuals though the process described on the enclosed form.

A description of the Recognition Awards Program and a form for submitting your nomination is enclosed with this letter.  Your continued cooperation in this activity is greatly appreciated.
