INFORMATIONAL LETTER NO: 69 POLICY CODE: LF
TO: Superintendents of Schools FROM: Susan A. Gendron, Commissioner DATE: January 31, 2007 RE: Governor and Education Commissioner to Host Live Webcast As many of you know, Governor John Baldacci and I will be hosting a live interactive video webcast Friday night to discuss the Governor’s school administration consolidation plan and answer questions about how it will be implemented. This webcast is another opportunity to learn in more detail about the Local Schools, Regional Support Initiative prior to the Legislature’s public hearing scheduled on February 5th. We have already completed several public forums and additional forums are planned. These information sessions replace the single event that was originally planned for February 7th at the Augusta Civic Center. The Governor and I will present an overview of the Local Schools, Regional Support Initiative and answer questions submitted by e-mail during the program. The broadcast is scheduled from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 2, and can be accessed by visiting the Department of Education website: http://www.maine.gov/education/supportingschools/webcast.html. Viewers will be given a link to view the program, and information about how to submit their questions. The webcast will be archived and available for viewing at any time within a few hours of the broadcast for those who are not able to tune in live. Those with slower internet connections should still receive full audio but the video stream will be choppy. For more information about the webcast, visit http://www.maine.gov/education/supportingschools/webcast.html.
