INFORMATIONAL LETTER: 43
TO: Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Principals, Special Education Directors, and School Board Chairs FROM: Susan A. Gendron, Commissioner of Education DATE: November 2, 2006 RE: Workshops: Review Outcome Data on Children with Disabilities before Public Release on February 2, 2007 The Special Services Team delivered workshops in three regions of the State last May. Those of you who attended became familiar with 5 of the 34 State Performance Plan (SPP) indicators and the process for entering the Incidents of Prohibitive Behavior (IPB) into the MEDMS Safe and Drug Free Schools (SDFS) module. The Q&A and the links for technical assistance by indicator are on the SPP website at: http://www.maine.gov/education/speced/spp/index.html The second round of regional workshops will focus on “How to Read the SPP Report Card” which will be sent to each School Administrative Unit (SAU) separately. The report card includes the current IPB data from the Office of Substance Abuse. Next year’s data will be collected from MEDMS SDFS module. It is expected that SAUs will start using the MEDMS SDFS module beginning in December 2006. Due to the nature of this presentation, it is suggested that teams from (SAUs) include those who have responsibility for entering the SDFS and other data, and the program managers who oversee the data collection. There will be two sessions at each location. Register for 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. or for 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. December 1, 2006 UMF, Olsen Student Center, North Dining Hall To register, email your name, your SAU, phone number, and the session date and time to shirley.mcquarrie@maine.gov If you have any questions, contact: Dr. Pamela Rosen, pam.rosen@maine.gov, or call her at 207-624-6648. pcr |
