RE: 13th Annual Education Law Conference

I am pleased to announce that the 13th Annual Education Law Conference will be held again this year from July 24- July 27, 2006 at the University of Southern Maine in Portland. The Conference will provide educational opportunities for educators, policy-makers, advocates, and practitioners alike.

Conference topics for 2006 will include civil rights, curriculum, safety, school reform, No Child Left Behind, special education, literacy, as well as other cutting edge issues. Keynote speakers for the conference include:

Education Sector’s Andy Rotherham on Serving Disadvantaged Students Wherever We Find Them;
Yale’s Dr. Sally and Dr. Bennett Shaywitz on The Science of Reading and Overcoming Dyslexia;
California’s Judge Morrison England on The View From the Bench;
Canada’s human rights leader from Dalhousie University Law School, Wayne Mackay on Including Students of All Abilities and Cultures;
Sweetbriar’s Supreme Court expert, Dr. Barbara A. Perry, on The Priestly Tribe: The Image of the Supreme Court in the American Mind; and
A sure-to-be-powerful performance of Bill Mastrosimone’s play on school violence/safety, Bang Bang You’re Dead by the Kennebunk New School Players.

The Post Conference sessions are on law-themed education, cross-education collaboratives for school reform, and Continuing Legal Education (CLE).
