SUBJECT:       Chapter 007 – Essential Programs and Services Targeted Funds Requirements

The Department of Education is proposing rules for Chapter 007 -Implementation of the Essential Programs and Services funding model established in 20-A-MRSA Chapter 606B, pertaining to targeted funding for technology, assessment, and the costs of additional investments in educating children in kindergarten to grade 2.

The proposed rule establishes the procedures for compliance with state requirements for school administrative unit’s plans for use of the targeted funds for technology, assessment, and the costs of additional investments in educating children in kindergarten to grade 2.

A public hearing will be held on the proposed rule as follows:

Monday, January 9, 2006, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., First Floor, Room 103, Burton M. Cross State Office Building, Augusta, Maine.
