RE:                    More Reasons For Hope: Creating Positive Connections Between Youth and Adults

Please be reminded that the More Reasons For Hope: Creating Positive Connections Between Youth and Adults conference sponsored by Communities for Children and Youth, an initiative of the Maine Children’s Cabinet, will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at the Augusta Center from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This conference has been set up for all schools and community members and will address the many ways in which we can build positive connections that are respectful, nurturing and loving between youth and adults in Maine.   It will address children’s earliest years of life, in their school time, and their after school time.   Middle and high school students as well as the adults in their lives will be on hand to model effective ways of working together in many of the Learning Sessions.   Guest speakers include Governor John Elias Baldacci, First Lady Karen Baldacci, and Mark Scharenbroich, internationally known for his programs on school climate and character education.

Please consider attending and please encourage staff, students, parents, and community members to attend as well.   I believe that this learning experience will help us all with ideas and strategies for improving school and community climates and the healthy development of Maine’s children and youth.

You may obtain additional information about the conference as well as register online at:

I look forward to seeing you there.
