RE: Child Nutrition Services Training Sessions
The Department of Education, Child Nutrition Services has training sessions planned for the benefit of local School Food Service Staff:
New Federal Verification Regulations for school year 2005/2006 go into effect this year. Public Law 108, which became effective June 30, 2004, resulted in several changes to the verification process. A discussion of these changes to the verification of Free and Reduced Student Meal Price Applications and how the verification process will be affected, will be held on September 20, 2005 through the ATM system. The ATM broadcast will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. There will be four interactive sites, including the sending site. The sites and contact person for each site are as follows: Caribou High School – Louise Bray, 496-6311; Mt Desert Island High School- Elaine Eaton, firstname.lastname@example.org ; SAD 06 Bonny Eagle High School– Barbara Rose, 929-9106; and the broadcast site here at the Cross State Office Building in Augusta, Maine- Amy Webb, 624-6842. Broadcast-only sites may be added. Broadcast-only sites are not interactive; they are viewing only. Please register one week in advance for broadcast-only sites.
The Review Training is directed to those School Districts that are scheduled for a Child Nutrition Program review during 2005/2006. This training will be offered via ATM on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The ATM sites are Augusta, Cross State Office Building, Room 103A (contact Sandy St.Michel for directions-624-6843); Sanford High School (contact Joe McBrine for directions-255-8301); and Washington Academy (contact Joan Wright for directions-651-3951). An Informational Meeting will be offered at the Four Points Sheraton Inn, Bangor, on October 13, 2005 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Planned agenda topics include: Confidentiality, Chapter 51 Amendments, After School Snack Program, Review Standards, School Reporting, Free & Reduced Enrollment, School Detail Errors, Special Dietary Needs, and New Health Inspection Report. There is a $30.00 registration fee for this meeting. Registration forms have been mailed, and are also available on our webpage http://www.maine.gov/education/sfs/meet.htm
