Good Morning Gents:
Webasto is just in the planning stages of setting up inventory needs to cover the above. Although the thought is that only 1-2% of the units manufactured between 2002 and present are defective, Webasto is planning to replace all of them. It is a simple process that any mechanic can do. For those districts that do not have mechanics, W.C. Cressey & Son, Inc. will provide their technicians to make the change easy and convenient. Records show that there are about 100 of these units here in Maine.
To expedite this recall, I would ask that you put this email out to all the schools here in Maine. All they have to do is email me back the serial numbers on their units, and I will order replacement chambers. I will also work with each school district, to insure the that the new chambers are provided at no charge. For those schools wanting to replace the chambers themselves, I will work out the flat rate labor reimbursement offered by Webasto for this recall.
This recall affects the 45,000 BTU Webasto Scholastic fuel fired heaters only. The smaller TSL17 units are not a part of this recall and have no problems.
