Please be reminded that the Maine School Security Conference, sponsored by the Maine Department of Education, the Maine Emergency Management Agency, and the Maine School Management Association, will be held November 8, 2004 at the Augusta Center from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.


National, state and local experts will provide information to assist Maine school officials to prepare for emergencies, including natural disasters, violent incidents and terrorist acts. Keynote addresses and small group sessions will provide guidance for developing emergency crisis plans, for collaborating with local safety and emergency personnel and for making school facilities secure.  The development of prevention policies and what we need to know and think about from legal perspectives will also be addressed.


Please consider attending with a district team of individuals who would be key to emergency preparedness, such as building principals, transportation directors, facility managers, school nurses, school board members, food service directors, and others.
