The Verification Procedure is required each year of National School Lunch Programs under United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Federal Regulation 7 CFR 245.6A. Verification is to verify the income of applicant, using documents submitted by the applicant, on behalf of the student to determine eligibility for free and reduced price meals.
The Maine Department of Education Child Nutrition Services office will be providing interactive training on the verification procedure for free and reduced price meals applications. The Verification Procedure of free and reduced price meals applications will be explained, and will include an overview of the newly revised Verification Report EFN-90. The session will highlight steps that can simplify the procedure, make it more efficient, and prevent errors.
The training scheduled for October 1, 2004 from 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. will be conducted over the ATM network. A total of four sites will be interactive. Participants at other sites may register to receive and view the broadcast via ATM but will not be able to communicate with us directly.
