SUBJECT:       Second Request for Proposals (RFP): Maine Learn and Serve Service Learning Grant “Living Democracy” 



     The Maine Department of Education is requesting additional proposals for the Maine Learn and Serve Service Learning “Living Democracy” grant program. This initiative is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service designed to support the implementation of Service Learning linked with history, civics and government in Maine middle and high schools. Grant applications will be due by 2:00 p.m., local time, on Friday June 11, 2004.


     Applications are sought for grants in the amount of $8,575.00 that support the continued implementation of Service Learning in schools/school systems that are experienced in Service Learning and wish to link Service Learning with history, civics and government.


     Preference will be given to programs with clearly stated measurable objectives addressing the components of the program as outlined in the RFP. The deadline for submission of applications is 2:00 p.m., local time, Friday June 11, 2004.
