RE: Supplemental Service Providers
The federal No Child Left Behind Act requires the Maine Department of Education to request information from prospective Supplemental Educational Service Providers.
The Application Form is designed to help the Maine Department of Education review potential supplemental service providers (SSPs) in order to develop the state list of approved SSPs as required by the No Child Left Behind Act. Supplemental educational services are additional academic instruction services provided in low-performing schools. These services may include academic assistance such as tutoring, remediation and other educational interventions, provided that such approaches are consistent with the content and instruction used by the local educational agency (LEA) and are aligned with the Maine Learning Results. Supplemental services must be provided outside of the regular school day. Supplemental Services must be high quality, research-based, and specifically designed to increase student academic achievement. The Application Form is designed for easy translation into a searchable database for LEAs, schools, and parents.
