There are several Request for Proposals recently issued in Maine that may be of interest to schools working to build and coordinate their School Health programs.

 

v     School-Based Health Centers, issued by the Maine Bureau of Health

q          Applicant must be located in a school with grade 6 or above

q          Applicant may be either a School Administrative Unit (SAU) or health care provider working with an SAU

q          Applications are due by March 14, 2003

v     Comprehensive Suicide Prevention, issued by the Maine Bureau of Health

q          12 high schools will be funded

q          Applications are due February 12, 2003

q          For a grant application, contact Richard Spencer at spencer@mcd.org or 622-7566 ext. 299.The application can also be obtained at www.mainecshp.com

q          Applications were mailed, and should have been received by Superintendents and high school Principals the week of January 13, 2003.

 

v        Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities, Governorís Program and Center for Substance Abuse Prevention

q            Funds for a new or expanded substance abuse prevention programs to reduce substance use and violence

q            Eligible applicants are public and private non-profit entities

q            Applications are due March 31, 2003

q            Public information meeting will be Wednesday, January 28, 2003
