SUBJECT: Deadline for Qualified Zone
Academy Bonds, Facilities Management Listserve, Tools for Schools workshops
I am pleased to announce the
following opportunities which may be of interest and useful to you and your
staff regarding school facilities.
- Applications
for Federal Qualified Zone Academy Bonds (QZAB) will close on May 15,
2001. Applications can be obtained from the Department through Jay
Readinger at jay.readinger@state.me.us
and information about QZAB’s can be obtained from. http://www.edfacilities.org/ or at
http://www.ed.gov/pubs/fixschools/index.html
.
- To aid
in the exchange of best practices in school facilities management and to
help with the exchange of ideas and questions among school officials,
vendors, and Department staff, the School Facilities Team is now
sponsoring an email listserve for School Facilities Management. To
subscribe to the listserve please send an email to FMTgroup@lists.state.me.us ,
with no subject, and only the word “subscribe” as the message.
- On
Monday, April 23, 2001 the Maine Lung Association is presenting an all day
workshop introducing the US Environmental Protection Agency’s “Tools for
Schools” indoor air quality program. This workshop will be held at
University of New England, Westbrook College Campus in Portland from 8 AM
to 4 PM. To get more information about this program, or to register,
contact Norm Anderson at the Maine Lung Association at (207) 622-6394. The
Department is proud to co-sponsor this event.
