Subject:            School Year 2001-2002 School Bus Purchase Requests



            The annual applications for approval of school bus purchases are due November 25, 2000.  The 2001-2002 form number EF-T-17 and filing instructions can be found at under the EF-T-17 listing.  Every School Administrative Unit planning to purchase a school bus(es) in FY02 must submit a completed Request for Approval for School Bus Purchase (EF-T-17) to the Department of Education, Pupil Transportation Specialist, in order to be considered for subsidy payments.


            As in recent years, the approval limit is $5 million for cash and note purchases.  We will do our best to honor as many requests as possible within that limit.  Leases and lease to purchase agreements are not included in the above limit and continue to be reimbursed as a transportation program cost.  They also require department approval. 


            Reminder, please submit a completed School Bus Purchase Report, EF-T-20, for each new school bus purchased or leased.  Reimbursement subsidy will not be set up if a purchase or lease report has not been filed.  Blank copies of this report are also available from the Department Internet address for forms, listed above.
