Comprehensive School Reform (CSR) Program

Maine's CSR program provides funding to secondary schools having the greatest need to substantially improve student performance of the Maine Learning Results.  CSR funds are targeted for secondary schools to help them meet the vision and recommendations in the report of the Maine Commission on Secondary Education,  Promising Futures: A Call to Improve Learning for Maine's Secondary StudentsSchools that receive CSR funding will work to implement Core Principles and Practices identified in Promising Futures as key to improving student performance.  Their innovative programs will emphasize academic achievement and parental involvement and will be supported by reliable research and effective practices that are replicable.   These programs will be comprehensive and aimed at stimulating school-wide change.  In other words, CSR projects in Maine secondary schools will cover all aspects of school operations (curriculum, instruction, staff development, assessment, and school management); rather than  being "piecemeal" or fragemented approaches to school reform.  By supporting comprehensive school reform, Maine's CSR program seeks to enable all students in the schools served to meet the challenging standards of Maine's Learning Results.
