Final Priority List

The Department of Education's list based on a rating of the overall needs of those school districts that submitted a Major Capital School Construction Application.

Approved Projects List

After the Final Priority List is established, the State Board of Education designates projects from that list to be placed on the Approved Projects List of projects that the State Board intends to fund for a given rating cycle. Placement on the Approved Projects List is an acknowledgement that the pupils in the rated facility have a significant need to be housed under improved circumstances. It does not assure replacement of the facility(ies) that received the rating.

Approved Projects List for Major Capital School Construction

Projects 1 through 6 were approved on August 10, 2005, by the State Board of Education for placement on the Approved Projects List . Projects 1 through 6 must receive Concept Approval by the State Board of Education by 12/31/2006.
  1. Portland School Department - New Elementary School - Concept Deadline waiver granted 2/14/2007. New Concept Approval Deadline 3/31/2008.
  2. RSU 6/SAD 6 Buxton - New K-5 Elementary School - Concept Deadline waiver granted 2/14/2007. New Concept Approval Deadline 3/31/2007.
  3. RSU 24 (formerly Peninsula CSD) Winter Harbor - New PreK-8 Elementary School - Concept Approval Deadline waiver granted 2/14/2007. New Concept Approval Deadline 3/14/2007.
  4. RSU 24 (formerly Ellsworth School Department) - New PreK-5 Elementary School and an Addition to the Existing 6-8 Middle School - Concept Deadline waiver granted 2/14/2007. New Concept Approval Deadline 5/9/2007
  5. RSU 54/SAD 54 - Norridgewock - New PreK-6 Elementary School
  6. Lewiston School Department - New Raymond A. Geiger Elementary School
Projects 7 through 13 were approved on August 10, 2005, by the State Board of Education for placement on the Approved Projects List. Projects 7 through 13 must receive Concept Approval by the State Board of Education by 12/31/2007.

  2. Brewer High School District Trustees - New PreK-8 Elementary School
  3. Westbrook School Department - New 6-8 Middle School
  4. Gorham School Department - New Elementary School - Concept Approval Deadline waiver granted 4/9/2008. New Concept Approval Deadline 10/31/2008
  5. RSU 05 (formerly Durham School Department) - New PreK-8 Elementary School
  6. Machias School Department - New High School - FAILED TO MEET REQUIRED DEADLINES - REMOVED FROM APPROVED PROJECTS LISTS ON 4/9/2008.
  7. Brunswick School Department - New Elementary School
Projects 14 through 20 were approved on July 12, 2006, by the State Board of Education for placement on the Approved Projects List. Projects 14 through 20 must receive Concept Approval by the State Board of Education by 12/31/08.
