Home > Professional Development > Achieving Results Intro Achieving ResultsIn July 2002, as part of its report to former Commissioner Duke Albanese, the Professional Development Policy Advisory Committee created a list of standards for the training and development of educators which they entitled the Maine Training and Development Quality Standards. The initial work on these standards was done in 1998 by the Professional Development Quality Standards Working Group of the Maine Learning Results Steering Committee. Over the next four years the proposed standards were revised, critiqued, and revised again by numerous groups of educators. In May 2002, Personnel Training and Development standards were enacted in Section 8.08 of Chapter 125 to serve as the foundation for professional development planning. This document is culmination of this collaborative process. It is designed to assist Maine schools in their efforts to provide high quality professional development and training to staff and stakeholders ensuring all student achieve the high standards of the Learning Results.
