June 6, 2009
June 6 marks American Hiking Society's National Trails Day. On Saturday, June 6, the Bureau of Parks and Lands wants you to Take It Outside and Take A Hike with us on one of our many trails. We are offering an extensive list of group hikes from York to Aroostook County. There is something for all skill levels and abilities from first-time hikers to experts.
Get Prepared: Taking the time to plan ahead for your hike will make your time outdoors more enjoyable. Don't forget to bring water, a trail snack, insect repellent, and sun screen. If you are a novice hiker or just looking for a good gear checklist or trail snack idea, download a hiking fact sheet from the American Hiking Society.
Where to Go: Select a hike in your neck of the woods from the list below. Please call ahead for more information and to register for the hike that interests you.
