Draft Rule Revisions
Over the past year Maine Land Use Planning Commission ("Commission") staff has been working with stakeholders to understand changing market demands for recreational lodging services and identify ways in which the Commission's regulatory structure can be improved to keep pace. Our statutory purpose and scope statement, among other provisions, charges the Commission "to support and encourage Maine's natural resource-based economy." This rulemaking is intended to facilitate natural-resource-based economic development in a manner that also protects the resource base on which that economy is built. Based on stakeholder feedback, ideas, and concerns staff has developed draft rule revisions that address a majority of the known issues. The Commission is now seeking formal public comments on the draft rule revisions.
