Maine CDC Breast and Cervical Health Program (MBCHP)


Who is eligible for MBCHP screening services


 

In order to be eligible to enroll in the MBCHP for screening services, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a woman sge 40 to 64*, and
  • Must be a Maine resident (or New Hampshire resident located within 15 miles of the Maine state border), and
  • Must have income less than or equal to 250% of the current Federal Poverty Level (FPL), and
  • Have no health insurance, or health insurance that does not cover mammograms or Pap tests (preventive cancer screening services), or has a high deductibe.
* Limited openings for women age 35-39 who have seen a doctor and need additional tests for a possible breast or cervical cancer OR if they have not had a Pap in 5 or more years.

Women receiving Medicare Part B or MaineCare benefits are not eligible for MBCHP. (Mammograms and Pap tests are covered under these programs.)

Enrollment in the screening program provides coverage for screening services for one year. Each year you will be given an opportunity to re-enroll in the screening program as long as you continue to meet MBCHP eligibility requirements.
