Obtaining a Certified Copy of your Birth Certificate

Recently, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles issued new regulations requiring additional documentation in order to get or renew a Maine drivers license or non-drivers identification card. The required documentation includes proof of residency, as well as some form of proof of legal presence.

One of the documents acceptable for proof of legal presence is a certified copy of your birth certificate.

Where Can I Get a Certified Copy of my Birth Certificate

• From your municipality of birth or residence ($10/copy)
