Office of the Maine State Treasurer

Welcome to the Office of the State Treasurer. We provide state agencies with efficient banking and financial services, which include revenue collection, payment issuance, reconciliation, and trust management. We also manage state investments with safety, liquidity and yield in mind.  Our office also manages debt payments and issuance, ensuring that bonds authorized by voters are efficiently sold in the marketplace to provide funding for capital projects statewide.  In addition, we hold over $200 million in unclaimed funds for Maine residents and we work each day to reunite owners with their money.  Our professional staff proudly serves each individual in this great state.  Reach out to us with any questions or concerns that you may have. We look forward to hearing from you.

Maine’s ABLE Program is now live!

Living with a disability is often associated with significant amounts of extra costs. That’s why individuals and families can now contribute to ABLE accounts — tax-advantaged accounts that can fund disability expenses without impacting means-tested benefits eligibility.

Treasurer Sets Lowest Interest Rate Ever on Delinquent Property Taxes

This week Treasurer Beck set the lowest limit ever for the interest rate in delinquent property taxes. The low limit was made in consideration for rising costs for homeowners and Maine businesses. If you are having difficulty paying your property taxes, please work with your town. Governor Mills has also announced a program sponsored by Sen. Donna Bailey of Saco to assist property taxpayers who have a disability or age 65+ and are behind in paying their property taxes.
