Applicants for Engineer Intern Certification must:
- Transcripts must be sent directly from the school to NCEES (preferred), or to professional.engineers@maine.gov showing the degree awarded.
- A qualifying 4-year BS degree can be:
- BS from an ABET-accredited engineering or engineering technology program [Maine ABET-accredited programs]; or
- BS from a non-accredited engineering, engineering technology or allied science program showing 48 engineering science and design credits as required by the NCEES Engineering Education Standard
- A qualifying 4-year BS degree can be:
- Pass the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
- Complete the online application and payment.

NOTE: Engineer Intern Certification is not required for eventual PE licensure, but a passing result on the NCEES FE Exam is required.
