Engineer Intern Certification

Applicants for Engineer Intern Certification must:

1. Transcripts must be sent directly from the school to NCEES (preferred), or to professional.engineers@maine.gov showing the degree awarded. 
   • A qualifying 4-year BS degree can be:
     • BS from an ABET-accredited engineering or engineering technology program [Maine ABET-accredited programs]; or
     • BS from a non-accredited engineering, engineering technology or allied science program showing 48 engineering science and design credits as required by the NCEES Engineering Education Standard
2. Pass the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
3. Complete the online application and payment.

NOTE: Engineer Intern Certification is not required for eventual PE licensure, but a passing result on the NCEES FE Exam is required.
