About

The State currently administers the functions of human resources, benefits, and payroll through a multitude of separate, outdated systems. Paper-reliant processes, manual calculations, workarounds, and tracking via manual spreadsheets outside these systems have resulted in processes that are time-consuming and inefficient. Upon implementation, PRISM will replace these disparate systems and processes with modern tools to serve the needs of approximately 13,000 employees and 97 departments across the Judicial, Legislative, and Executive Branches.

Last fall we began working with our new implementation partner, Accenture, a leading Workday implementor for large government entities. Accenture has been reviewing our previous implementation efforts and documentation, and they have been meeting with State employees to build upon and enhance the significant work already accomplished. Accenture and the State are working together to identify best practices and effectively configure the new system; this may allow us to make some changes to the way we perform HR functions and support our employees, in order to take full advantage of the improved functionality and efficiencies offered by a modern system.

The project is sponsored by the Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS), with Executive Leadership from the Bureau of Human Resources, Office of the State Controller, and MaineIT.
