Benefit Estimator
This tool can give you an estimate of what you might receive for Paid Family and Medical Leave benefits if you file a claim and it's eventually approved.
You'll need to know about how much money you earned in Maine during your Base Period (the first four of the last five calendar quarters before your leave will begin).
- For example: if you'll need to be out of work starting on May 10, 2026, the last five calendar quarters before the leave will begin are January 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026. The first four of those last five calendar quarters are January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025. So your Base Period would be from January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025.
Your Weekly Benefit Amount will depend on how much money you earned from all Maine employers during your Base Period.
- If you did work in Maine for an employer that's using a private plan for Maine PFML coverage, don't include your earnings from that company. You may be able to get paid leave benefits from that employer's private plan instead.
- If you did work in another state during your Base Period, don't include those earnings.
- If you're self-employed and you've elected to have Maine PFML coverage, use the net income from all your businesses from your most recent calendar year.
Keep in mind, if you earned less than $6,864 during your Base Period, you won't be approved for Maine PFML at all.
Estimated Weekly Benefit Amount:
This is the amount of benefits you could receive for one full week of approved leave. Maine PFML can be approved for up to 12 weeks in a 12-month period.
