Permanent Commission on the status of Racial, Indigenous, and Tribal Populations
General information
The Intergenerational Community Building Grant will support projects that bring together older adults and younger generations to grow mutual understanding, lifelong learning, social connection, and community resilience. Grants will support eligible applicants through one time funding of $8,000 to develop and implement intergenerational projects designed to accomplish one or more of the goals listed below in additional information.
1) Strengthen Social Bonds: Support meaningful, reciprocal relationships between generations through shared experiences and cooperative activities. 2) Enhance Community Wellbeing: Reduce social isolation, particularly among older adults and youth, by building inclusive, supportive intergenerational spaces. 3) Preserve and Share Knowledge: Support communities in preserving, practicing, and sharing cultural, historical, and practical knowledge. 4) Build Sustainable Community Models: Support the development of replicable, scalable intergenerational programs that can become long term community assets.

Grant eligibility
In order to qualify, applicants must be one of the following: 1. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization location in Maine 2. A town or county government in Maine. 3. A Wabanaki tribal government. 4. A Maine school or school system.
We encourage and invite collaboration between organizations to apply together. If you have received a Permanent Commission grant in the last six months we require that you partner with an entity that has not previously received funding or collaborated with us to help expand access and broaden community impact.
