Rep. Michel (Mike) A. Lajoie is serving his fifth non-consecutive term in the Maine House of Representatives. He sits on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee. A lifelong resident of Lewiston, Rep. Lajoie is a former small business owner and Lewiston Fire Chief who served the city for over 31 years. He graduated from Lewiston High School and Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute and earned his associate’s degree in fire science from Southern Maine Technical College. He is also a graduate of the Androscoggin Leadership Development Institute. Rep. Lajoie has served on numerous professional associations and boards, including on the Lewiston Municipal Federal Credit Union Board of Directors for 24 years. Currently, he serves on the Gendron Franco Center Board of Directors and is an American Red Cross Community Volunteer Leader. During his previous terms in the Legislature, Rep. Lajoie served on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee. He was also a member of the Maine Fire Protection Services Commission and the Maine Fire Service Institute Advisory Board. Additionally, he served two terms as a Lewiston City Councilor, and was the council president for the second term. Rep. Lajoie lives with his wife, Rita.
