Rep. Drew Gattine is serving his fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives. He is a board member of the Maine Children’s Trust, a group that fights child abuse and neglect throughout the state.

Rep. Gattine is a health care executive with extensive experience in implementing and operating projects designed to deliver more effective and efficient services in publicly funded programs. He is a nationally known expert on the topic of health care fraud, waste and abuse and has presented at numerous national conventions and meetings on this topic. He is also a former state assistant attorney general.

Rep. Gattine was named a 2015 Legislative Hero to Maine Seniors by the Maine Council on Aging. He has also been honored for his work on behalf of community health centers by the Maine Primary Care Association and his efforts to ensure safe drinking water for Maine by Prevent Harm.

Rep. Gattine served three terms as a Westbrook City Councilor, chairing the Council’s Finance Committee and Committee of the Whole. He also recently chaired the Westbrook City Charter Commission. He is currently a director of the Westbrook Environmental Improvement Corporation and the chair of the Westbrook Democratic City Committee.

Rep. Gattine lives on a small family farm in Westbrook with his wife, Elizabeth. They have two children in college.

Rep. Gattine serves as House chair on the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs.

Brief description of the subject matter handled by the committee: General Fund appropriations and general fiscal policy; federal funds allocations; special revenue and block grant allocations; Budget Stabilization Fund; unappropriated surplus; bond issues; collective bargaining funding; review of revenue estimates; budgeting methodologies, review of financial orders; financial evaluation of agencies of state government; Maine Public Employees Retirement System; retirement eligibility and benefits for state and municipal employees, including teachers; judicial and legislative retirement systems.
