Citizen participation in government is the cornerstone of democracy, and the key to an active citizenry is knowledge. Providing the public with education about the Freedom of Access Act will help build a culture of openness and will foster a society of well-informed citizens who take an active interest in their government. By creating this central repository for news and information about the Maine Freedom of Access Act, the state is advancing that effort. Regular updates on legislative changes, new court opinions and other FOAA-related news, will keep the public informed about important freedom of access developments.
