August 2024
CPM successfully formed the bridge deck, installed studs, and completed the installation of all rebar before placing the concrete for the bridge deck. Concurrently, Shaw Brothers continued their work on the project by installing drainage systems and catch basins along US Route 1, enhancing the overall infrastructure and water management of the area.
July 2024
CPM continued to make progress on the bridge deck by working on the decking, prepping steel for studs, and installing those studs. By late July, they had completed the decking and shifted their focus to installing rebar for the bridge deck. Meanwhile, Shaw Brothers continued their efforts, working on the underdrain and installing catch basins to ensure effective drainage in the area.
June 2024
Throughout the month of June, crews worked on the northbound bridge, finishing the setting of structural steel and diaphragms. Overhead shielding and overhang brackets were completed. Crews began placing the bridge deck. Shaw Brothers have paved the approaches on I295, as well as installed drainage, and placed loam and seed on the slopes.
May 2024
In May CPM completed the Pier pedestals, completed Abutment 1 and 2, set steel girders from Abutment 1 to the Pier. Shaw Brothers installed underdrain and catch basins, installed stone ditch protection along the South Bound on ramp slopes and loamed and seeded slopes.
April 2024
Throughout April, crews placed and stripped the pier cap. Crews also completed rebar and formwork at the abutment 1 breastwall and placed concrete. Rebar and formwork was completed at abutment 2 breastwall, and concrete placed. Crews have also worked on drainage installation and backfilling operations.
March 2024
Throughout March crews from the department stripped forms on the pier column, and completed forms and rebar for the lower backwall at abutment 1, and also placed the pier cap. Rebar installation began at the abutment 2 breastwall. Work at abutment 1 included placement of phase 1 backwall and wings whereafter the forms were stripped. Abutment 2 breastwall work included completion of rebar and beginning forms.
February 2024
January 2024
Crews from Shaw Brothers completed the installation of rebar, forms, and placement of Abutments 1, 2, and pier footings, along with the completion of the pier stem and Abutment 1 breast wall phases 1 and 2. Additionally, rebar and forms have been initiated for Abutment 2 breast wall. Containment sheets were removed at the pier, and Shaw Brothers handled backfilling for the pier footing and both abutment footings. They also transported and placed granular borrow and ASCG at both approaches, while implementing loam and erosion control blankets on approach slopes.
December 2023
CPM finished rebar work and placed the concrete footing on the northbound bridge at abutment 2.
November 2023
Throughout November Shaw Brothers have removed pavement from the north bound abutment 2 approach. They also fattened the slopes on I-295 north bound. CPM finished abutment 2 footing forms, began rebar and started formwork for the pier footing. HB Fleming finished installing all H-piles for the north bound bridge pier and demobilized from the project.
October 2023
Workers have finished installing forms, rebar and placing concrete at abutment 1 footing. 33 H-Piles have been installed at abutment 2. Sheet piles were installed for the pier cofferdam, with excavation taking place within that area to set H-piles.
September 2023
Workers demolished the northbound bridge. H-piles were installed at abutment one. Abutment two was excavated and prepped for h-piles.
August 2023
This month the old north bound bridge was demolished. The southbound bridge was opened to traffic.
July 2023
Shaw Brothers has paved the base and intermediate lifts on the South Bound bridge approaches. The membrane has been installed on the south bound bridge deck and Shaw Brothers paved the bridge deck. Shaw Brothers have placed loam on the slopes on the side of the south bound approaches. CPM installed the north bound bridge protective shielding
June 2023
CPM has placed one of the South Bound Bridge parapets and has completed forms and rebar for the other parapet. Shaw Brothers has been working nights on the temporary cross over work, which will be used when the new south bound bridge is open to traffic. CPM has begun installing shielding under the bridge in preparation for bridge demolition.
May 2023
Work in May focused on the South Bound Bridge Deck placement. CPM placed 324 CY of concrete. Using two pump trucks, a bid well, vibrators and hand tools, the concrete was placed using the pump trucks, vibrated and then finished with the bid well. All edges (where the bid well doesn’t reach) were finished by hand with hand tools. Once the concrete started to set, it was covered with wet burlap, plastic and weeper hoses and was kept wet for the seven-day curing period. All fabric, plastic and forms have now been removed.
April 2023
Completed Forms, rebar and placed concrete at backwall-phase 2 at abutment 1. Abutment 2: Placed the concrete for the upper backwall-phase 1 at abutment 2. Crews worked on the superstructure installing the bridge deck rebar, installed the curb rebar, started installing the finger joint at Abutment 2 and installed the cable barrier on I-295. Daigle Electric installed temporary traffic signals.
March 2023
CPM installed the concrete anchor for the cable barrier on the north side of the southbound bridge and began installing rebar for the southbound bridge deck.
