Competitive Grants to Focus on Enhancing Capacity

The Maine Department of Education has issued a request for proposals (RFP) funded by the US Department of Education under No Child Left Behind Act Title IID Enhancing Education Through Technology. A copy of the RFP may be downloaded for review. Those sections of the RFP that require portions to be completed are available as Rich Text Format (RTF) documents.

Proposals are due April 17, 2008 at 2:00PM. An announcement of the awards is anticipated by Friday, April 25, 2008. at 1:30PM.

The Question and Answer period has ended. The compiled Questions and Answers have been sent to superintendents of SAUs and others who have received the RFP that day.

Commissioner Gendron issued Informational Letter #79 alerting you of the opportunity to participate in the No Child Left Behind Act Title IID Enhancing Education Through Technology Professional Development grant. You expressed an interest in the grant and as a result are being sent a request for proposal (RFP) to provide fiscal agent services for seven regions. We hope that, in cooperation with other superintendents in the region, one proposal for each region will be sent in response to this request. The fiscal agent will contract with or hire a regional coach/mentor to provide professional development for teachers and other educational personnel on integrating technology in teaching and learning.

A list of the school administrative units that make up each region appears in Appendix 1 of the RFP. Contact the regional coach/mentor to learn more about the work they have been doing and the resources required. A list of the coach/mentors appears in the RFP.
