Program Description – written by Garrity Andrews LLC

Garrity Andrews LLC [GA] is a single-member entity owned by Heather L. Ball, M.S.Ed., C.A.S., a fully certified secondary social studies teacher; K-12 special education teacher; and special education consultant in the State of Maine. Ms. Ball has provided educational instruction to students in and out of school settings in Pennsylvania and Maine since 1996. Currently, she is the Coordinator of the Special Education Program at the University of Maine at Machias and regularly instructs preservice and inservice teachers in courses leading to certification in special education.

The goal of GA is to assist students in reaching their educational goals and to provide quality service by meeting the needs of the individual. Accordingly, GA offers a myriad of services including supplemental education services; assessment and evaluation; transition services; in-service and staff training. GA's unique approach to the provision of supplemental education services includes initial consultation with the student's local education agency. At this time, a profile of student strengths and needs is developed and a plan of remediation is developed. GA will construct concise instructional units accompanied by frequent assessment towards curriculum benchmarks and district goals and objectives as aligned with state and federal requirements. Instructional units will be tailored to student learning style, motivation, and academic goals. Using a diagnostic and multi-modal approach, GA tailors each student's program to best meet his or her needs while maintaining an ultimate goal of meeting state standards, benchmarks, and performance indicators. All content, therefore, is directly aligned with the Maine Learning Results.

GA offers several methods for instruction including one-on-one and small group, in person, services; asynchronous transfer mode; and online supplementary instruction. This availability includes weekdays, weekends, and summers, as well as before and after school sessions. GA welcomes the opportunity to work with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities including individuals of varying socioeconomic status, exceptionality, or at-risk categories.
