Home > Frequently Asked Questions Updated 04/07/06...wl MEDMS Release 1 Frequently Asked Questions:GeneralQ. What is the MEDMS web site address? A. https://www.medms.maine.gov/medms Q. Will MEDMS work on a 56K dial-up connection? A. Yes, it will work but the response time will be relatively slow. We recommend a T-1 connection. Q. Will MEDMS work with Netscape or Safari? A. Currently, the application only runs on Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. For the 2005-2006 school year MEDMS will work with Safari. At some point we plan to make MEDMS compatable with the Firefox web browser. Q. Where can I find the User Guide? A. https://www.medms.maine.gov/MEDMS/usermanual/welcome.htm LoginQ. Why can I no longer log into MEDMS? A. Make sure you are logging into the Production web site (see above) and not onto the training web site. Q. How do I delete or change an incorrect username? A. Usernames can only be deleted from Active Directory by MDOE. Send an email to medms.helpdesk@maine.gov or call at 624-6896 with the username to be deleted. Once the username is deleted the user can be assigned a new username. Q. Why don’t I have any choices in the Application or Action drop-down menus after logging in to MEDMS? A. The most likely cause is that you were assigned a username and password but were not given any “role” assignments. You will need to contact your local MEDMS administrator to correct this. Q. I can’t remember my password. What do I do now? A. Your local MEDMS administrator can reset your password. If they are not available the MEDMS helpdesk can reset your password. StaffQ. What do I put in the salary field when adding a job function? A. The salary field is where the annual salary for a staff member is input. The annual salary can be computed from an hourly wage by multiplying the hourly wage by the number of hours per day times the number of days worked per year. Q. The system does not allow a person to have the same Job Function more than once. How do I enter someone who coaches two different sports? A. They will have only one coaching Job Function. To list the two different sports use the Class module. The sports are listed in the Course field. Q. How do I list substitute teachers? A. Substitute teachers are only reported when they work in a position for sixty (60) or more consecutive days. Substitutes working 60 or more days should be entered into MEDMS by adding them to the staff module. On the Staff SAU screen the "Substitute" check box under "Other Responsibilities" should be checked and the Job Function screen should be completed for the position they are performing as a substitute. Q. What dates do I enter on the Staff SAU and Job Function pages? A. All dates in MEDMS must fall within the current school year which began on 07/01/2004 and ends on 06/30/2005. Do not fill in the End Date on the Job Function page. The End Date is automatically filled in when the End Job button is selected on the Staff SAU screen. Q. Who can update Staff data in MEDMS? A. SAU employees who has been assigned the Staff Update role can update Staff data centrally, or employees may update their own data if they have been assigned the My Profile Update role. 06/10/05 |
