RE: Announcing 2007 Dropout Prevention Summer Institute
Registration is now open for the 2007 Dropout Prevention Summer Institute, Making the Alternative Education Philosophy a Reality. The Institute will be held July 23 and 24 at the University of Maine-Orono in Little Hall from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. The Institute is a collaborative effort of the Maine Department of Education, The Institute for the Study of Students At Risk-University of Maine, and the Alternative Education Association of Maine.
Participants will have the opportunity to choose four in-depth sessions covering the following topics:

Navigating the System: Building an Alternative Program

Profile of an Alternative Learner

Regional Review: A Program Self-Assessment and Peer Review Process

Classroom in the Community
-
Translating the Alternative Education Experience into The Maine Learning Results

Post Secondary Options: Exploring Life Beyond High School Graduation
The Institute registration fee is $175.00 per person and a group rate of $150.00 per person is available for teams of 3 or more attendees. On-campus accommodations are available. Registration includes 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and workshop materials. CEUs will be available.
